Academy Behaviour Policy
Primary
Al Arqam Primary Behaviour policy will focus on the development of self-discipline that will express itself in responsible and appropriate behaviour. Students will access support from Academic/Admin staff in collaboration with the Guidance Department.
- Behavioural support: – managing their behavior in school, stress management, communication skills
- Emotional support: – encouraging and giving guidance where they have difficulties with fellow students, teachers etc.
- Social support: – peer relationships, self-esteem, confidence building, social interaction, communication, and guidance re social media/social networking.
- Academic support: – learning styles, study skills, study organisation/ planning, and healthy lifestyle.
The implementation of the policy will be fair, firm and consistent. All students will be made aware of the consequences of irresponsible and inappropriate behaviour.

Teachers will maintain a record of the students behaviour and take appropriate action/steps to solve issues. STEP 1: Verbal reminder to the student of the expected appropriate behaviours. Teacher and/or learning assistant or monitoring the violation will have an immediate pedagogical discussion with the student. STEP 2: Verbal reminder to the student of the expected, appropriate behaviours. The teacher or who previously directed it will remind the student of the previous discussion. Teacher may take immediate steps such as, moving their place within the class or engage in reflection activities. This involves putting the child into a quiet place on her own. The length of time is at the teacher’s discretion. (should not be for the whole lesson) Deduction in k12 points ( 1 point ) STEP 3: • Verbal reminder to the student of the expected appropriate behaviours. Depending on the severity and frequency of the behaviour, the teacher decides the action plan (i.e. 10 mins meeting with teacher to discuss problems- during breaks). Deduction in k12 points ( 2 points ) Details of incident to be recorded on k12 by class or subject teacher and parents of student to be contacted before the end of the school day. The communication should be from the social worker regarding behavior, but regarding academic matters, the teacher communicates with parents. STEP 4: Deduction in k12 points ( 3 points ) Missing a privilege/ Exclude from upcoming internal event (inside classroom) Student referred to pastoral team member who can have sessions with student reminding of the expected appropriate behaviours. Details of incident to be recorded on k12 by class or subject teacher and parents of student to be contacted before the end of the school day. Step 5: Unacceptable repeated behaviour (Minor) which is repeated over a long period of time. Move directly to Step #1 of medium (Orange zone). *Class Teacher is responsible to fill in a referral form before handing the case over to GD. |

Student writes an apology letter (using the form) or write a pledge not to repeat the behaviour. Daily report for a week (The teacher / supervisor fills out the special form) for a week. Depending on the severity and frequency of the behaviour, the counselor creates the action plan for further steps to prevent such actions, with positive reinforcement as the objective. Contact the parents via phone Incident will be documented via K12, and a verbal warning will be issued to parents. Step 2: The counselor will have second follow up discussion with the student and work on the set action plan. Student writes an apology letter (using the form) or write a pledge not to repeat the behaviour. Contact the parents via phone Conduct a meeting between parent, counselor, and Pastoral care team A first formal written warning will be given to the parents about the child’s behaviour. Incident will be documented via K12, and a first formal written warning will be attached. Unacceptable repeated behaviour . Move directly to Step #3 of Majors (Red zone). |

Step 4: The counsellor will have a discussion with the student (Counselling and guidance session). Student writes a pledge not to repeat the behaviour. Contact the parents via phone Conduct a meeting between parent, counsellor, Head of Arabic and Head of English procedure as following: 1- A second (Third if transferd from orange) formal written warning will be given to the parents about the child’s behaviour. 2- Inform the parents of in school suspension for three days. Incident will be documented via K12, a second (Third if transferd from orange) formal written warning and in school suspension for three days will be attached. Step 5: The counsellor will have a discussion with the student (Counselling and guidance session). Student writes a pledge not to repeat the behaviour. Contact the parents via phone Conduct a meeting between parent, counsellor Pastoral Care Team Leader and Head of School, procedure as following: 1- A final formal written warning will be given to the parents about the child’s behaviour. 2- Inform the parents of home suspension for two days. Incident will be documented via K12, a final formal written warning and in home suspension for two days will be attached. Step 6: Continuing misbehaviour will result in parents being called to attend a meeting with the Head of Primary and the Principal, where a formal letter will be given to the pearent requesting the student find an alternative school to attend. Refer student’s file to authorized party in ministry |
